He was Banker But Now Raises Fish and Grow Plants in her Apartment in New York

You can recycle , drive a small car and try to eat organic foods. But you can also go further and raise fish with eco-sustainable technology and have a garden with natural fertilization and own an apartment in a city like New York. Christopher Toole and Anya Pozdeeva, two former bankers who founded the Big Apple Securities Company aquaponic and Education (SAVE, for its acronym in English), have a story to tell. "We call it beyond organic," said Pozdeeva, 39. The technique aquaponics is a sustainable food production, which combines fish farming (aquaculture)

with the cultivation of plants in water (hydroponics). It is a perfect system, ecological miniature that can produce healthy food in a small apartment with simple equipment, they said. "We built our system from garbage cans," said Pozdeeva, a thin woman who emigrated from the Siberian region of Russia 20 years ago and still speaks English with a slight accent. If raising fish in an apartment in New York seems unlikely, Toole and Pozdeeva seem even more improbable as urban ecological pioneers.

Until recently were bankers who met working long hours among the skyscrapers of Manhattan, far from bleak Bronx where they currently live. But after the financial meltdown of 2008 brought down the banking sector, Toole, vice president of Sovereign Bank, discovered he had a serious eye problem, which he said was caused by stress. Both he and Pozdeeva were very disappointed with their careers. "They know how to squeeze every last drop from you and then throw you away," said Pozdeeva. "We wanted to keep our feet on the ground," said Toole, 47, gray beard and hat pigskin. Instead, put your feet in the water.

Toole knew a little about fish by his childhood summers with his father scientist at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Massachusetts (northeast), a famous centre for research in marine biology in the Cape Cod area aquaponics, he estimated, would allow him to join the sustainable food production with what he hopes is a business model also sustainable. A risky idea? Yes "But understanding risk is something they teach you a lot in the banking sector," he said.

Each week Toole and Pozdeeva aquaponics technique taught about 80 children at the headquarters of SAVE in a community center in the South Bronx, one of the more socio-economically disadvantaged neighbourhoods in the United States.

During one recent class, the couple engaged in what young people do; everything from cleaning fish tanks to planting mint, cabbage and other vegetables. Children, despite being more familiar with the concrete jungle of the Bronx, were soon involved. "I have fear that the fishes will come and bite me" he said, laughing at a little girl as she put her hand on the top of a barrel with large tilapia.

When two kids gardening set aside to start a fight with mud, Pozdeeva calmly intervened."The earth is precious," he said. The boys went back to gardening. Toole said there are several types of fish farming in their farms, but tilapias are best. They require 19-38 liters of water and in nine months can be eaten. They can be totally vegetarian and seem to like duckweed, a plant of green beans and Pozdeeva Toole collected from ponds in Van Cortland Park in the Bronx. "Its illegal, but on the other hand these plants are choking ponds, so you could argue that we are doing them a favor," said Toole on his expeditions to collect this type of plant.

In addition to teaching, Toole and Pozdeeva sell small fingerlings at 5 dollars apiece through its www.vifarms.com website, Facebook and other websites. Just a year ago they created SAVE, but Toole and Pozdeeva have many more fish to fry. Toole plans partnerships with chefs, other urban fish breeders, and consultancy work for newcomers. But after fleeing global banking, it does not seem like working for anyone, or "selling our soul" as he says. It seems unlikely to happen.

Pozdeeva has discovered that fungi, raised on a simple piece of cardboard, thrive in the same conditions of warmth, darkness and humidity that favor the breeding of tilapia. And Toole is excited to diversify into the production of honey. "Right now I have 10,000 bees in our living room," he said. "So not only am I sleeping with fish, but with bees."

In fact, the only thing that could hinder the green revolution, it seems, are particularly strict rules of New York in connection with pets in apartment buildings. "Basically, we need to be somewhat discreet," said Pozdeeva on domestic colonies of fish. "But thats the beauty of the fish."

Welcome to #tsuGroups Beta. This new feature will match users with similar interests and give the value that is being created to the community that is creating it. By becoming an Owner, Administrator (Admin) or Member of a group you are accepting the following conditions.

General

There are three types of Groups on tsu - Public, Private and Secret.

• Only Public Groups are monetizable and anyone can join those and Owners and Administrators preside over those groups maintaining the laws of tsu as well as curating their own content and quality. For the first ~30 days of the tsuGroups Beta, all proceeds generated by Public Groups will go to their designated charities and each Public Group must select one charity to assist.

• Private and Secret Groups are invite only.

• Private Groups are searchable and Secret Groups are not.

• Posts in Public Groups may be shared outside of the Group; posts in Private and Secret may not be shared outside of Groups.

• No Groups may use the word tsu in their titles unless written consent is given by tsu management or unless the group is actually run by tsu. tsu reserves the right to delete or hide groups or restrict them in any way or hand ownership of Groups to others in the case of mismanagement (rampant copyright infringement, spam, economic gaming, bullying, etc.).

Owners

You have the responsibility of managing the Group, curating the content of your Group, educating your Admins and not having copyrighted content in your groups unless you have consent to use such content. Your reward for managing a Public Group is that you will monetize the Group but the burden will be on you to run a Group well otherwise the Group Members may not engage and should you mismanage the Group you may be removed from ownership of the Group. Owners will also have the task of assigning one tsu-based charity that will be affiliated with the Group where a portion of the revenues generated by the Group will automatically go to said charity. Owners will have administrative capabilities over their Groups.

Admins

Your responsibility is to curate and manage the Group and in the case of Public Groups you will monetize through a pool of funds that will be distributed to you periodically; all Admins will have the ability to remove posts, comments and ban users. All Admins, including Owner-Admins, will be responsible for keeping the comments sections clean of spam, economic gaming or commentary that is non-responsive to the content posted. Owners will have the ability to remove Admins from their administrative duties, however should an Admin administrate a Public Group for longer than 30 days, they will continue to monetize from their role for an additional 30 days after their departure from their role in said Public Group.

Members

Content-creating Members of Groups will also monetize Public Groups in proportion to the organic views of their content both in and outside the Public Group. The economics of a Group Members content that is created inside the Group is distributed entirely to the Group (none goes to any tsu Family Tree). Group Members content that leaves the Public Group will create economics for the individual content-creating Member and the entire content-creators Family Tree. Members for Private Groups must request invites to join the Group and for Secret Groups, Members must be invited by the Group Owners or Admins. Members must adhere to all tsu Terms and Conditions found here and elsewhere.

Monetization of Public Groups

Public Groups will be monetized as follows:

    25% = Owner
    25% = Split Amongst all Non-Owner Admins
    35% = Content-Creating Members
    10% = tsu
    5% = Designated Charity

(Percentages may change slightly as we gather data on groups’ usage.)

In terms of Public Groups and related monetization, Owners and non-Owner Admins may also participate in the Public Group with which they are affiliated as a Member (leading to potentially additional monetization).
Inviting Users to tsu Through Groups

Members of any Public Group may invite individuals to tsu using the Group name, however there is a mechanism in place that will give credit to the inviting Member and any new tsu users going through this mechanism will be placed into Family Tree of the inviting Member. For users external to tsu who stumble upon the Groups invite code without an invite code from a Member, those users will be placed into the Group Owners Family Tree. Please note that Groups will be searchable in Open Web.
Restrictions

An Owners secondary account may not be a non-Owner Admin and during tsuGroups 30-day Beta period we will require one (1) non-Owner Admins to each Group. After the 30-day period, we will also require one (1) non-Owner Admin per Group at a minimum. A Group may have up to ten (10) non-Owner Admins. After the Beta phase (~30-60 days), the tsuGroups application process will cease to exist where tsu users may create Groups in a self-served manner. Admins must be fluent in the primary language of the group.

Starting this new year off right

As this new year begins I look forward to great things, Sending out positive vibes, to receive positive vibes. I am excited about my stay at home Job I have. The company I am with is growing more && More each day!
I have won a contest as being #11 in the company... the Top 20 people got Free tickets to a Conference Event in Key largo FL, and a free hotel room! I am so excited its this Friday coming up! Its even better because I live in Miami. So its fairly close to me.

I havent even started packing, Or rented a car yet! But its fine I know everything will fall into place! I am also excited in looking forward to our guess speaker, and being able to Expand my online home based business!

5 ways the new Facebook Pages can benefit your business

Last week brought a whole new set of Facebook page changes which we covered in some depth but there is another angle that we’ve been thinking about that didn’t occur to us at first and that is business networking. 

The biggest change of all for me was the fact that you could log in as a business and take the profile of the business around Facebook rather than using your own personal profile and although this seems like a minor change I think it will have far reaching consequences. 

There is no doubt that Facebook has put a lot of thought in to how people will use the new Facebook business pages and as we always see people will start finding their own uses for their business as time goes on…

Business Networking?

The fact that you can log in as a business rather than a personal profile is a huge step forward and one that opens a whole host of new networking opportunities. Up until now you had to work within the confines of your own page but now you take you business identity all over Facebook and the web in general. You can like things, comment on other pages and engage in entirely new ways. 

This change should not be underestimated because the networking potential of commenting on other pages and actively engaging with users away from your own business page is huge. The important thing to remember here is that every time you engage somewhere it will leave a link back to your own page so very much like commenting is a good strategy for growing blog traffic the same now applies to Facebook.

Lead Generation?

You never really knew up until now who was running Facebook pages. It could have been somebody from an agency, the brand manager or just an intern. There was no simple way to contact business owners and the page was pretty much a broadcast tool unless you wanted to leave a public comment on the wall. 

With the new settings it will be far easier to get in touch with business owners or people who run the pages so this could become a great lead generation tool as many businesses now have a Facebook presence of some sort.

Plenty of brands have been using Facebook as a customer service tool already but they’ve been doing so in a very constricted way because of the structure of the old pages. Page owners couldn’t even get notifications about new comments or engagement but that has all changed now that you can log in as your business. 

Twitter has been a far better customer service tool to date but these changes make Facebook more “real time” for page admins. Add in the fact that you can see who is in charge of the page now and Facebook just became a far better customer service tool than it was yesterday.

Products And Services

Facebook is rigid in the way that it is built and what you can do design wise but the new photo lay out is tailor made for products, services and innovative ways of displaying. Much the same way as images were hacked on personal profiles to do cool stuff the same will be happening on business pages as we speak. A great place to show off your latest campaigns or do something innovative with photoshop me thinks!

Commenting on 3rd Party Sites

The new commenting system that Facebook is rumored to be rolling out in the next couple of weeks could make things even more interesting again. Imagine taking your business identity all over the web and leaving comments that all lead back to your business page. At the moment Facebook doesn’t allow you to do this as you can see from the screen grab below but I’d be stunned if this didn’t arrive in the future. 

This could be for people who either want to promote their pages or build themselves in to the experts in their field the ability to leave comments around the web. The other angle is integrating Facebook comments in to your own site when they launch and being able to use your Facebook profile to answer everything and have a seamless experience.

2015 New Years Resolution

New Years Resolutions for 2015

       SO,  I never really do set resolutions but I guess I will this time around. So besides losing weight... I have a few goals, Or resolutions I want to complete this year and I am really excited to get started on them! One of my Major "New Years Resolution" is to create a youtube channel! I really want to make videos! Ive just been really scared and lacked a lot of knowledge of how to even begin a channel. However, This year is the YEAR! I will definetely attempt to start one, and keep up with it on a regular schedule. Comment Below & tell me what you think about my upcoming channel?!!

I also want to try and get more involved with couponing and recieving free items from companies. So I will be working harder on influenster, bzzagent. swaggable and a few other companies I know about. Other then that I guess thats it... whats your new years resolutions?

Recently Im starting to do another 3D model of a car shell, this time round is Mitsubishi Lancer. No particular reason why I decided to do this car model. As for now, the work is still in progress, struggling to find free time to finish it off.
